Job Description
Job Title: Student Researcher, BS/MS, Winter/Summer 2026. Location: Waterloo, ON, Montreal, QC, Toronto, ON, - Must be located in Canada for the full duration of the engagement
Responsibilities:
- Participate in research projects that address real-world, large-scale problems
- Contribute to exploratory projects that drive scientific advancement
- Collaborate with research and engineering teams across Google;
- Support the development of next-generation intelligent systems
- Work on innovative challenges in areas such as machine learning, optimization, quantum information science, and data science
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field such as Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or similar
- Experience in at least one core computer science area such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Algorithmic Optimization, Quantum Information Science, Data Science, or Software Development;
- English proficiency for global collaboration
- Must be located in Canada during the entire program
- Submit updated resume and transcript in English, with anticipated graduation date listed
Preferred:
- Enrolled full-time and returning to studies after the internship
- Currently studying at a Canadian institution;
- Prior research experience through internships, labs, or full-time roles
- Experience with general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C/C++
- Experience contributing to research communities, including publications in major conferences or journals
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary: CAD 96,000 for full-time equivalent, adjusted by role, level, and location
- Compensation listed reflects base salary only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits
