Job Description

Job Title: Student Researcher, BS/MS, Winter/Summer 2026. Location: Waterloo, ON, Montreal, QC, Toronto, ON, - Must be located in Canada for the full duration of the engagement

Responsibilities:

• Participate in research projects that address real-world, large-scale problems
• Contribute to exploratory projects that drive scientific advancement
• Collaborate with research and engineering teams across Google;
• Support the development of next-generation intelligent systems
• Work on innovative challenges in areas such as machine learning, optimization, quantum information science, and data science

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field such as Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or similar
• Experience in at least one core computer science area such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Algorithmic Optimization, Quantum Information Science, Data Science, or Software Development;
• English proficiency for global collaboration
• Must be located in Canada during the entire program
• Submit updated resume and transcript in English, with anticipated graduation date listed

Preferred:

• Enrolled full-time and returning to studies after the internship
• Currently studying at a Canadian institution;
• Prior research experience through internships, labs, or full-time roles
• Experience with general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C/C++
• Experience contributing to research communities, including publications in major conferences or journals

Compensation and Benefits:

• Base salary: CAD 96,000 for full-time equivalent, adjusted by role, level, and location
• Compensation listed reflects base salary only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits
