Director SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting

Job Description

Job Title: Director SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting. Location: Remote, United States (multiple states)

This role supports that mission by ensuring financial transparency, regulatory compliance, and trust with investors and regulators.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all SEC reporting activities, including quarterly and annual filings, ensuring full compliance with Regulation S-X and S-K.
  • Prepare and review financial disclosures for consolidated financial statements and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A).
  • Monitor updates to SEC rules, interpretive releases, and staff accounting bulletins, and assess their impact on reporting requirements.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over the financial reporting process and ensure audit-ready documentation.
  • Conduct technical accounting research on complex transactions such as revenue recognition, equity, and leases.
  • Draft and maintain technical accounting memos and position papers aligned with US GAAP;
  • Support the adoption of new accounting standards by coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Maintain and update company accounting policies to reflect regulatory and accounting standard changes.

Qualifications:

  • 6 to 10 or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with SEC-registered clients or in a corporate SEC reporting role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with an active CPA license.
  • Strong technical knowledge of SEC regulations and US GAAP;
  • Experience using SEC reporting tools such as Workiva or Toppan Merrill and ERP systems like NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting guidance to leadership.
