Job Description
Job Title: Senior Buyer. Location: British Columbia, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Create, maintain, and track purchase requisitions and purchase orders in NetSuite
- Ensure purchase order accuracy, including pricing, quantities, coding, and shipping details
- Send purchase orders to suppliers and obtain order acknowledgements
- Track order status and follow up on deliveries, backorders, and delays
- Coordinate purchase order changes, cancellations, and closures;
- Generate weekly reports on open purchase orders, expedited orders, and aging reports
- Communicate supplier delays and backorders to stakeholders
- Improve procurement workflows involving purchase intake, quote comparison, supplier follow-up, exception management, and reporting
- Support implementation of approved process improvements, automation, and digital tools
- Develop templates, documentation, and standard procedures to improve consistency
- Collaborate with IT, Finance, and other stakeholders to improve NetSuite and related systems
- Support user training, gather feedback, and monitor workflow improvements
- Serve as the primary contact for supplier communications;
- Coordinate supplier quotes, confirmations, invoices, and shipping documentation
- Resolve routine supplier issues and escalate commercial matters when necessary
- Qualify and onboard new suppliers
- Maintain supplier records, contracts, NDAs, and procurement documentation
- Manage supplier and item master data within ERP and PLM systems
- Run procurement reports and maintain accurate procurement data;
- Support process automation and continuous system improvements
- Coordinate with Engineering, Finance, Operations, Receiving, and Logistics on purchasing activities
- Support invoice matching, freight reconciliation, and issue resolution
Qualifications:
- 5 to 7+ years of procurement, buying, or supply chain experience
- Experience managing end-to-end purchase order execution and supplier coordination
- Strong experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite
- Experience improving workflows through automation, system configuration, or integrations
- Strong understanding of purchasing, supplier management, shipping, receiving, and customs processes
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams;
- Strong process improvement and workflow mapping skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting
- Experience with international shipping and customs processes
- Understanding of data governance, confidentiality, access controls, and recordkeeping
- Experience with workflow automation or low-code platforms such as Power Automate;
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
- Exposure to AI-enabled business tools for reporting, documentation, or workflow improvement is an asset
Preferred:
- Experience in a technology, manufacturing, or hardware environment
- Experience improving procurement processes through digitization, analytics, workflow standardization, or automation
- Experience with supplier onboarding, document control, and master data management
- ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification, or progress toward certification
