Vice President, Human Resources

Job Description

Job Title: Vice President, Human Resources. Location: British Columbia, Canada (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the HR team across recruitment, HR operations, compensation, benefits, and business partnership
  • Build scalable HR systems to support rapid organizational growth and pre-exit readiness
  • Own end-to-end recruitment for highly specialized quantum and photonics talent;
  • Define hiring strategies, success criteria, and structured interview processes with leadership teams
  • Oversee employer branding, candidate experience, and recruitment analytics
  • Manage compensation, benefits, equity programs, and total rewards strategy across multiple geographies
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and maintain audit-ready HR documentation for due diligence
  • Oversee HR operations including HRIS, payroll, onboarding, offboarding, and lifecycle management
  • Improve HR processes through automation and operational efficiency;
  • Provide HR business partnership for leadership teams on performance, workforce planning, and employee relations
  • Run performance review cycles, goal setting frameworks, and employee development programs
  • Own employee engagement programs, onboarding experience, and retention strategies

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of progressive HR experience in technology or deep tech environments
  • At least 5 years of HR leadership experience managing teams;
  • Experience scaling HR functions in companies moving toward IPO or acquisition readiness
  • Strong expertise in recruitment, compensation, HR operations, compliance, and HR systems
  • Experience working across Canada, US, or UK employment environments
  • Hands-on experience with HR platforms such as HiBob, ATS, and payroll systems
  • Strong operational discipline with ability to work in fast-changing environments

Preferred:

  • Experience scaling companies from ~100 to 500+ employees
  • Deep knowledge of Canadian employment law and familiarity with US/UK regulations
  • Experience building HR systems for investor or acquisition due diligence;
  • Strong experience in high-growth deep tech or quantum organizations
