Job Description
Job Title: Staff Engineer - Electrical Test Development. Location: Bothell, Washington, USA
This is a hands-on engineering position that requires strong troubleshooting, deep technical judgment and the ability to lead test development efforts from concept to deployment.
Duties:
- Own the full test development, documentation, and deployment process for circuit card assemblies and subsystem components.
- Design and implement scalable test systems suitable for different levels of system complexity;
- Build automated test solutions for prototype electronics and guide their transition into production.
- Develop and maintain test infrastructure that supports all electrical testing needs.
- Lead technical reviews related to design for manufacturing and testing;
- Solve technical issues using standard processes such as Root Cause Corrective Action, Lessons Learned, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis.
- Perform hands-on assembly, testing, and system integration activities when required.
- Support deployments at manufacturing sites and customer locations when travel is needed.
- Communicate requirements and lessons learned clearly to upstream engineering teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Eight or more years developing test solutions for electrical components;
- Three or more years working with complex hardware and software systems made of multiple subsystems.
- Experience with electrical system design, validation, troubleshooting, and production processes.
- Proven background deploying complete test systems to manufacturing facilities.
- Proficiency in Python scripting.
- Experience developing FPGA circuits;
- Ability to design requirements-based tests for complex systems.
- Hands-on engineering experience is required, not only project management.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field;
- Eight or more years as a technical lead.
- At least five years designing requirements-based test systems for complex hardware.
- Experience supporting test solutions from prototype to mass production.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience creating automated data analysis tools.
- Experience writing software for automated testing;
- Experience improving production throughput.
Benefits and Instructions:
- Base salary range: $128,119 to $167,740, plus bonus, equity, and full benefits.
- Compensation varies based on experience, skills, and location;

- This position requires onsite work at the IonQ facility in Bothell, WA, with travel as needed.
