Solutions Architect - Healthcare & Life Science

Job Description

Job Title: Principal Solutions Architect - Healthcare & Life Science. Location: Basel, Switzerland; Göteborg, Sweden

This role sits within a cross-functional team that includes scientists, engineers, product managers, and business developers; The focus is on technical leadership, customer engagement, thought leadership, and guiding clients through early quantum adoption.

Duties:

  • Explain IonQ’s roadmap and answer technical questions about quantum computers and quantum applications for prospective clients.
  • Lead discussions with healthcare and life science clients to show how quantum tools can fit into their domain needs.
  • Translate business requirements into technical proposals in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Build sales assets, including slides describing IonQ products and application features.
  • Produce thought leadership content tailored to HCLS audiences;
  • Share client insights with hardware and applications teams to support product improvements.
  • Contribute to moving prospects through the sales process and developing a strong pipeline.
  • Lead workshops to help clients explore use cases and begin quantum engagements.
  • Work with marketing, developer relations, and business development to expand IonQ’s presence.
  • Attend industry conferences, support booth activities, and speak about IonQ achievements.
  • Travel up to 40 percent domestically and globally for client meetings and events;
  • Work in a non-commission technical sales role focusing on impact and long-term client success.

Qualifications:

  • More than 10 years of experience in technical sales or similar roles.
  • More than 10 years of technical leadership experience.
  • More than 10 years of focused HCLS experience;
  • Master’s degree or higher in a STEM field such as chemistry or physics.
  • Strong interest in quantum computing and ability to explain complex topics clearly.
  • Experience communicating technical solutions to a wide range of audiences;
  • Preferred: PhD in a related STEM field, experience studying quantum computing, hands-on work with Qiskit, Cirq, or other SDKs, experience with HPC, and proficiency in Python and Jupyter Notebooks.
  • Experience leading technical events and working as a senior solution architect.
