HR Generalist

Job Description

Job Title: HR Generalist. Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, documentation, and system setup for new hires.
  • Coordinate IT setup and orientation sessions to ensure employees are ready from day one;
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, payroll, and company policies.
  • Support performance management processes, compensation cycles, and department-level people initiatives.
  • Plan and execute monthly, annual, and special company social events.
  • Organize company-wide initiatives that celebrate milestones and achievements.
  • Coordinate Canadian immigration cases such as work permits, PR support, and LMIAs by working with employees and legal counsel.
  • Manage onboarding and contract administration for international workers through Professional Employer Organisations (PEO).
  • Handle government reporting requirements and maintain accurate records.
  • Review and update HR policies to ensure compliance with Canadian labour laws;
  • Maintain data accuracy in HR systems including Hibob and ADP Workforce Now for US and Canadian payroll.
  • Ensure mandatory health and safety training is completed and properly documented.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an HR Generalist or People Operations role, preferably in a fast-paced technology company.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field;
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll systems. Strong experience with ADP Workforce Now and Hibob is preferred. Experience with Deel is an asset.
  • Solid knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards and human rights legislation. Familiarity with US employment law is a plus.
  • Experience managing complex processes such as immigration coordination and government reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with both technical and business teams.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base salary range of 70,000 to 80,000 CAD, based on location, experience, and internal benchmarks.
  • Eligibility for equity;
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
