Job Title: In-house Patent Attorney / Patent Specialist. Location: United Kingdom, Germany
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with inventors to identify, evaluate, and protect valuable innovations.
- Draft and prosecute patent applications across diverse technical areas.
- Build strong partnerships with technical teams.
- Coordinate effectively with external patent counsel;
- Support the growth, management, and continuous improvement of the patent portfolio.
- Provide IP guidance and education to internal stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve IP processes.
- Anticipate challenges, recommend solutions, and escalate issues when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physics, Mathematics, Computing Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience drafting and prosecuting patents before a Patent Office.
- Registration as a European Patent Attorney or equivalent certification is an asset.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and sound judgment;
- Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Experience Levels:
- Senior Patent Specialist: Typically 4+ years of relevant experience, with the ability to independently manage patent matters, apply sound judgment, and contribute to patent drafting, prosecution, IP practices, and quantum technology expertise.
- Lead Patent Specialist: Typically 6+ years of relevant experience, with demonstrated expertise managing complex patent matters, patent drafting and prosecution, improving IP practices, and collaborating across technical and business teams.
