Senior Counsel (Commercial Contracts)

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Counsel (Commercial Contracts). Location: London or Cambridge, United Kingdom

Job Type: Temporary (Fixed-term, 6 months), Hybrid

Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including technology licensing, SaaS, scientific research, collaboration, branding, marketing, employment, and other corporate agreements
• Provide practical legal advice to commercial, technical, scientific, and operational teams
• Manage corporate legal activities and transactional workflows across multiple jurisdictions
• Support compliance with technology controls, import and export regulations, data protection, and other regulatory requirements
• Develop and maintain legal policies, templates, and standard operating procedures;
• Deliver legal training on contractual obligations, compliance, and best practices
• Collaborate with business leaders, scientists, HR, product, and commercial teams on new initiatives and partnerships
• Improve contract lifecycle management and legal processes to support company growth
• Support trademark protection, branding reviews, and marketing-related legal matters
• Assist with corporate governance, risk management, and other legal projects as required

Qualifications:

• 12 to 15 years of post-qualification legal experience
• UK or US Law degree
• Qualified solicitor in the UK or licensed to practice law in the United States
• Strong legal research, writing, and contract drafting skills;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines

Preferred:

• Company secretarial experience
• Experience working in scientific, software engineering, or computer science industries
• Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable professional
