Senior, Physical Security Specialist

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Physical Security Specialist. Location: Tokyo, Japan

Responsibilities:

• Act as the main advisor and escalation point for physical security across the region
• Manage relationships with security vendors, building management, and government authorities
• Develop, maintain, and improve site security procedures, including emergency response plans
• Oversee security operations for offices and remote facilities such as data centers and co-location sites
• Manage guard services, ensuring proper training, documentation, and compliance;
• Participate in budget planning, vendor selection, and procurement processes
• Plan and implement long-term investments in surveillance, access control, and alarm systems
• Monitor and improve building security systems and identify upgrade opportunities
• Manage access badge systems and enforce entry control policies
• Work with HR on secure employee exits, including high-risk cases;
• Handle employee security incidents and communicate policies clearly and professionally
• Lead incident response during major emergencies and coordinate with internal teams
• Travel within Japan and to Singapore as required

Qualifications:

• 4 to 6 years of experience in physical security programs or a relevant bachelor’s degree with experience
• Fluency in Japanese and English for communication with global and local stakeholders
• Ability to meet export control and national security requirements;
• Experience managing security operations, vendors, and compliance frameworks

Preferred:

• Understanding of security risk management, including threats, vulnerabilities, and impact analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle sensitive situations
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
