Job Description
Job Title: Lead Patent Specialist. Location: Canada
Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute patents across multiple technical areas related to quantum technologies
- Build strong relationships with intellectual property, legal, and technical teams
- Develop a deep understanding of company technology and collaborate with inventors to identify valuable innovations
- Provide intellectual property guidance and education to internal stakeholders;
- Coordinate effectively with external patent counsel
- Contribute to the management and continuous improvement of the company's patent portfolio
- Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and quality
- Independently manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines;
- Identify potential challenges, recommend solutions, and escalate issues when appropriate
- Stay current on developments in quantum computing, patent law, and intellectual property best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- At least 6 years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution before a Patent Office
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and workload management skills
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ability to work independently
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and legal stakeholders
Preferred:
- Registration as a Canadian Patent Agent or equivalent professional qualification
- Experience working with advanced technologies, including quantum computing systems and software
- Knowledge of intellectual property strategy and portfolio management
Benefits And Compensation:
- Annual salary of CAD $114,400 to $171,600
