Lead Patent Specialist

Job Description

Job Title: Lead Patent Specialist. Location: United Kingdom or Germany

Responsibilities:

• Draft and prosecute patents across multiple quantum technology areas
• Collaborate with IP, legal, and technical teams on intellectual property strategy
• Support and help shape the European patent portfolio and IP processes;
• Work closely with inventors to identify valuable innovations and technical developments
• Coordinate with external legal counsel and provide IP guidance to internal stakeholders
• Contribute to continuous improvement of IP portfolio management and operational efficiency
• Independently manage deadlines, priorities, and complex workloads;
• Stay updated on developments in the quantum technology and intellectual property landscape
• Support mentoring and future leadership initiatives within the European IP team

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physics, Mathematics, Computing Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 6+ years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution before the European Patent Office
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and organizational abilities;
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
• Demonstrated accountability and initiative in professional environments

Preferred:

• Registration as a European Patent Attorney or equivalent certification
• Experience working with quantum computing systems and emerging technologies
• Interest in mentoring junior professionals and supporting team growth;
• Familiarity with patent strategy related to software, hardware, and optimization technologies
