Principal Quantum Compiler Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Lead/Principal Quantum Compiler Engineer. Location: Broomfield, CO, USA

You will work with physicists and software engineers to design scalable, high-performance compiler architectures that unlock the full power of next-generation quantum hardware.

Duties:

  • Lead the architectural vision and technical execution of compilers targeting advanced quantum computing systems.
  • Design and develop compiler front-end quantum languages, back-end machine targeting, and optimization passes.
  • Build and improve quantum circuit optimization and classical optimization workflows.
  • Develop heuristics and algorithms for efficient ion routing across complex hardware topologies;
  • Collaborate closely with physicists and cross-functional engineering teams to solve complex system-level problems.
  • Mentor senior engineers and help grow long-term technical leadership within the compiler team.
  • Contribute high-quality code in a fast-paced R&D and rapid prototyping environment.
  • Support industry standards development to enable future quantum machine capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD degree required in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing compiler infrastructure in industry, research, or lab environments.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience building compilers for quantum computers.
  • Strong programming experience with C++, Python, Rust, or similar languages.
  • Experience with LLVM, MLIR, or other intermediate representations;
  • Proven background in algorithm development for complex optimization problems.
  • Ability to lead technical projects and communicate complex ideas clearly.
  • Must be a U.S. person due to government and contractual requirements.
  • Candidates must not be PRC or Russian nationals unless also U.S. citizens.

Benefits and Instructions:

  • Annual compensation range of $170,000 to $230,000, including bonus eligibility.
  • Salary is based on experience, education, skills, and role alignment.
