Senior Quantum Field Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Field Engineer. Location: München, Bavaria, Germany

Responsibilities:

• Explain IonQ’s quantum computing strategy, portfolio, and applications to prospective clients
• Lead client discussions and map business needs into quantum algorithms and real-world applications
• Work with internal teams to build and execute proof-of-concepts using application code;
• Translate customer requirements into technical projects in collaboration with engineering teams
• Share client feedback with product and engineering teams to improve solutions
• Create technical assets and materials to showcase quantum products and applications
• Guide projects from early ideation to production-level workflows
• Lead discovery sessions to identify use cases for quantum solutions;
• Partner with marketing, developer relations, and business teams to expand market presence
• Attend industry events and support client engagement activities
• Travel up to 20 percent domestically and globally for client meetings and conferences

Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in customer-facing technical roles or similar positions
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering
• Strong communication and client engagement skills;
• Demonstrated interest in quantum computing

Preferred:

• Master’s or PhD in a STEM field related to quantum computing
• Experience working directly with customers across different industries
• Hands-on experience with Qiskit, Cirq, or similar quantum SDKs
• Proficiency in Python and Jupyter Notebooks;
• Strong full-stack or system architecture skills
• Experience leading technical events or workshops
