Student Researcher, BS/MS

Job Description

Job Location: Mountain View, CA, USA; Ann Arbor, MI, USA; plus multiple other US locations

Participants will work on real-world, large-scale challenges in areas such as quantum computing, AI, machine learning, and data science, collaborating with researchers across Google, including DeepMind, Google Research, and Google Cloud; This program provides hands-on experience in scientific research, technology development, and interdisciplinary projects.

Duties:

  • Participate in research projects exploring innovative solutions in quantum computing, AI, and machine learning.
  • Collaborate with mentors and team members to support experimental and computational research;
  • Contribute to exploratory studies and prototype development in areas such as quantum information science and advanced algorithms.
  • Assist in data analysis, algorithm design, and programming tasks to support research outcomes.
  • Prepare and document findings for internal reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Engage with the research community by contributing to discussions, meetings, and possibly publications;
  • Adapt to different project requirements and work environments depending on the assigned team and location.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Physics, or related technical field.
  • Experience in one or more areas of computer science or research such as Quantum Information Science, Machine Learning, AI, or Software Engineering.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or JavaScript;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in research teams.
  • English proficiency is required for effective communication in a global environment;
  • Preferred: previous research experience, publications, or participation in academic communities.

Benefits and Instructions:

  • Base salary range: $92,000–$122,000 per year (pro-rated for internship duration), excluding bonus, equity, or benefits.
  • Flexible time commitment, duration, and location based on project and student needs;
  • Onsite or remote options available depending on the specific research team.
