Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Computational Science Specialist. Location: Derby, England, United Kingdom (Hybrid)
Responsibilities:
- Develop quantum computing applications and algorithms for fault-tolerant quantum computers.
- Design and implement hybrid quantum-classical workflows for engineering applications.
- Develop computational science methods for future multi-physics simulation capabilities.
- Build algorithms and software to utilize quantum processors and emulator platforms;
- Research and develop Quantum Linear Equation Solvers, Quantum Singular Value Transformation, tensor network methods, state loading, matrix encoding, and circuit contraction techniques.
- Develop practical error-corrected algorithms that can be executed on emulators before deployment on physical quantum hardware.
- Work closely with quantum computing companies, universities, and government research laboratories on collaborative research projects.
- Use high-performance computing systems for large-scale simulations and testing.
- Support the commercialization and wider adoption of quantum computing technologies across the organization.
- Perform technology horizon scanning and evaluate emerging computational technologies.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively with both quantum specialists and non-specialist stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Physics, Mathematics, or an equivalent discipline.
- Postgraduate experience in computational science or strong experience in classical linear algebra.
- Strong understanding of quantum information.
- Experience implementing quantum computing algorithms.
- Experience using PennyLane, QuEST, or similar quantum development frameworks.
- Proficiency in Python and C++;
- Strong communication and consulting skills with industry experts, researchers, startups, and technology partners.
- Experience developing algorithms for Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computers, including Quantum Singular Value Transformation.
Preferred:
- Experience with parallel programming for high-performance computing.
- Experience with simulation, modeling, or machine learning for engineering applications.
- Knowledge of state loading, matrix encoding, amplitude amplification, and quantum measurement operators.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, cloud computing architecture, and HPC system deployment.
- Experience in classical data science and machine learning.
