Research Scientist, Quantum Algorithms

Job Description

Job Title: Research Scientist, Quantum Algorithms. Location: London, Cambridge

The work is collaborative and contributes directly to the company’s full-stack quantum computing platform through papers, presentations, and joint research with academic & industry partners.

Duties:

• Conduct research on new computational models and methods that reduce quantum circuit depth.
• Develop and implement new quantum algorithms that connect with early fault-tolerant techniques and error correction or detection approaches.
• Estimate end-to-end resource needs for algorithm execution under realistic hardware constraints;
• Present scientific results internally and externally through papers, talks, and conferences;
• Collaborate with internal teams, academic partners, and industry collaborators to advance the quantum stack.

Qualifications:

• PhD in physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
• Research background in quantum algorithms with expertise in areas such as algorithm design, circuit optimization, realistic noise models, quantum error correction, or early fault-tolerant protocols;
• Proven publication record in relevant topics.
• Strong understanding of quantum computing theory and algorithm development.
• Practical experience running algorithms on simulators or hardware;
• Programming experience in Python and tools such as pytket or Qiskit.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
