Job Description
Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel. Location: British Columbia, Canada (Hybrid)
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal guidance to product, design, and engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian and international regulations including technology licensing, export controls, and intellectual property laws.
- Identify and proactively mitigate legal risks related to technology development and commercialization;
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements related to product development, manufacturing, partnerships, and distribution.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support intellectual property strategy, enforcement, and protection of company innovations.
- Develop scalable legal processes, internal policies, and contract templates to streamline legal operations.
- Work cross-functionally with teams on privacy, security, compliance, and IP matters;
- Provide practical, risk-balanced legal advice to senior leadership and business stakeholders.
- Stay informed about new product developments and provide creative legal solutions that enable business growth.
Qualifications:
- JD or LLB degree and active membership in a Canadian provincial bar with eligibility to practice in British Columbia.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal role.
- Strong expertise in technology product development and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements;
- Ability to explain complex legal issues in simple and practical terms for non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking, sound judgment, and ability to operate in fast-moving environments.
- Technically curious with strong interest in quantum technology and innovation.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Salary:
- Base annual salary range: $161,900 to $222,600 CAD.
- Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, education, qualifications, geographic location, and business needs.
