Job Description

Job Title: System Architect, Simulations & Models. Location: Berlin, Germany; Daresbury, UK; Leiden, Netherlands; Remote

You will work closely with hardware, manufacturing, and architecture teams, using scientific computing methods to analyze photonic modules, system behavior and multi-scale models; This position plays a key part in moving from concept to full utility-scale quantum data centers.

Duties:

• Design software tools and internal infrastructure used to develop and analyze the quantum system architecture.
• Contribute to the long-term roadmap for quantum system architecture and supporting software systems;
• Build and improve simulation tools that model Fock and Gaussian states of photonic modules.
• Develop tools for inspecting and analyzing multi-scale hierarchical system models;
• Maintain graph-based models for modules and subsystems to support consistent interaction with upstream and downstream teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups across departments, sites, and time zones to align system-level expectations.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Physics with strong knowledge of quantum optics and quantum information.
• Proficiency in Python and experience in scientific computing;
• At least 3 years of software development experience.
• Ability to work across teams and handle complex technical discussions.
• Hands-on mindset with the ability to solve problems independently.
• Experience with collaborative development tools such as GitLab;
• Optional but helpful: familiarity with Docker and Postgres.

Benefits and Instructions:

• U.S. base salary range: $115,000 to $140,000.
• Bay Area range: $145,000 to $170,000.
• Total compensation may include equity and full benefits;
• Pay may differ based on experience, qualifications, and location.
