Quantum Field Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Field Engineer - Nordics. Location: Nordics (Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Iceland)

Responsibilities:

• Explain IonQ’s quantum computing portfolio, strategy, and applications to prospective clients
• Lead client discussions and map business needs into quantum algorithms and real-world applications
• Build and execute proof-of-concepts with application teams
• Translate client requirements into technical solutions and internal projects
• Share customer insights with product and engineering teams to improve offerings;
• Create technical and business-facing assets for quantum applications and products
• Guide clients from early ideation to production-level implementation
• Lead discovery sessions for business use cases and identify opportunities for quantum advantage
• Collaborate with marketing, developer relations, and business development teams
• Attend industry events and support client engagement activities;
• Travel up to 20% for client meetings and conferences

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles or similar
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly;
• Strong interest in quantum computing and emerging technologies

Preferred:

• Master’s or PhD in a STEM field
• Experience working with customers across different industries
• Hands-on experience with Qiskit, Cirq, or similar quantum SDKs
• Proficiency in Python and Jupyter Notebooks;
• Strong system architecture or full-stack technical skills
• Experience leading technical events or workshops
