Job Title: [Quantum] Research Tokyo Student Intern. Location: Tokyo, Japan
Job Type: Internship (Fixed Term), Hybrid
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software for running HPC and quantum computing experiments
- Contribute to open-source tools enabling experimental quantum computing research using Qiskit, Python, C++, or Rust
- Collaborate with IBM Quantum researchers and engineers to improve the performance of quantum devices
- Develop and implement quantum algorithms to achieve quantum advantage for real-world problems;
- Assist in theoretical, experimental, or numerical tasks for quantum application development
Qualifications:
- Graduate student in quantum computing or a related field
- Experience running or simulating quantum experiments;
- Familiarity with High-Performance Computing or quantum algorithms
- Working knowledge of Python, C++, or Rust and experience contributing to software projects
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred:
- Experience developing applications for quantum computers
- Extensive knowledge of Python, C++, or Rust development;
- Comfortable with collaborative software methodologies (code review, design documentation)
- Exposure to quantum systems such as NV centers, quantum dots, superconducting qubits, or NMR
Benefits and Compensation:
- Internship period: June–September (negotiable)
- Daily salary: 18,000–20,000 yen (without housing allowance), 24,000–26,000 yen (with housing allowance)
- Commuting costs covered (except long-distance travel to Tokyo);
